Filming in Mozambique’s Cities & Municipalities
Filming on public streets, municipal properties, city parks, and urban centers in major cities (such as Maputo, Beira, or Nampula) requires explicit city council authorization.
This authorization process ensures traffic control, public safety, and coordinated street access without disrupting local infrastructure.
Processing Time
City Council and municipal approvals typically require 3 to 5 business days to finalize.
Police Coordination
Necessary when planning road closures, blocking pedestrian paths, or using large filming rigs.
Key Required Documents
To apply for City Council permits, we require:
01 Application Letter to City Council
An official request addressed to the municipal assembly/mayor detailing your shoot times, locations, and crew size.
02 Traffic & Road Closure Plan
If filming blocks streets, a traffic diversion plan coordinated with municipal police is required.
03 Public Space Permission Letter
Special permits to set up gear, tripods, or temporary crew tents in public squares, parks, or monuments.
04 Local Sponsor & INICC Permit
Liaison documents from your local fixer (Niigma Films MZ) coordinating municipal clearance.
